Energy Star Project Administration
ENERGY STAR Certification signifies that a building performs in the top 25% of similar facilities nationwide. Once approved by the EPA, certified buildings earn an ENERGY STAR decal, prominently displayed at the building’s entrance, and are listed on the ENERGY STAR website.
Eligibility for ENERGY STAR Certification
To be eligible for ENERGY STAR Certification, buildings must be benchmarked through the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and achieve a score of 75 or higher on a scale of 1–100. This score reflects a comprehensive assessment, adjusting for operating conditions, regional climate data, and other key factors. A wide variety of building types can qualify for an ENERGY STAR score.
